Salvage Inspections
Modern Body Shop is a Georgia state certified salvage/rebuilt vehicle inspection station.

The fee is $100 cash.
Be sure you have everything needed and you are prepared for the inspection when you arrive.
If you are unprepared and/or do not have the required documents, we will not be able to do the inspection.
If your vehicle title says "Salvage", you must tow your vehicle in for inspection. If you drive your vehicle we will not inspect it.
The vehicle will be inspected for quality of repairs, safety and structural integrity. *See below for details.

IF YOUR VEHICLE TITLE SAYS ‘SALVAGE’ YOUR VEHICLE MAY NOT BE LEGAL TO DRIVE UNTIL YOU GET THE REBUILT TITLE AND TAG
IF YOU ARE A DEALER YOU MUST TRANSPORT THE VEHICLE FOR INSPECTION
IF YOU ILLEGALLY DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION, Modern Body Shop IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY CONSEQUENCES
YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING AT THE INSPECTION:
1. $100 Cash
2. Original salvage or rebuilt title showing you as the owner of the vehicle with your printed name on the face of the title or your signature as buyer
3. Your valid Georgia ID/driver license or rebuilder’s license
4. Photos – at least two – of the vehicle in pre-repair condition
5. Receipts for any parts purchased. If parts were used, the receipt must show the VIN number of the original vehicle
*****Exception: for out of state rebuilt vehicles, we do not need receipts or photos*****
Note: If the vehicle needs to be painted, it must be inspected before it’s painted
You must complete forms MV-1 and T-129 to submit to the Georgia Department of Revenue, Motor Vehicles Division, after the inspection. You may download the forms from the links below.
MV-1 DOR – Motor Vehicle Title/Tag Application
T-129 DOR – Motor Vehicle Labor and Parts Certification (not needed for out of state rebuilt)

Inspection includes, but is not limited to, inspection of the following items:

Wheels/tires

Mirrors

Tail lights

Horn
If there is any damage to any glass or any warning lights on the dash, the vehicle will not pass inspection
**If the owner cannot be present at inspection we will need:
Clear copy of the owner’s valid Georgia ID/driver license or rebuilder’s license
Note signed by the vehicle owner giving permission for the inspection.
Once the vehicle passes inspection, all of the paperwork along with the inspector's report must be submitted with $18.00 document fee made payable to the Department of Revenue, Motor Vehicle Division.
